Medieval References & 3D Body Scans made by Photogrammetry

At 3D.sk in Prague, our cutting-edge scanning studio on Holeckova Street is where historical precision meets modern technology. We are passionate about providing exceptional photogrammetry and scanning services to digital artists, game developers and VFX professionals, striving to surpass industry standards and elevate your creative projects beyond the capabilities.

Detailed Scans of Historic Armor

Our recent endeavors include the intricate scanning of two extensive sets of medieval armor, employing our sophisticated rig outfitted with 130 Canon D250 cameras. These scans offer more than just visual data; they serve as essential tools for creators seeking to infuse authenticity and detail into their digital narratives. Discover the remarkable fidelity of our work through these featured scans:

We carefully disassemble each armor set into individual components—helmets, gauntlets, chestplates, and more—to provide versatile and detailed references ideal for any CG project.

The image stabilizing works well on all the neon lights that pepper Tokyo, while even people were neatly captured. There’s some noise, but it compares favorably against older Galaxy phones. Daylight meant effortless captures and some really nice shots, if I say so myself.

A Rich Arsenal of Medieval Weaponry

We are passionate about providing exceptional photogrammetry and scanning services to digital artists, game developers, and VFX professionals, striving to surpass industry standards and elevate your creative projects beyond the capabilities.

Beyond armor, our collection includes an impressive array of scanned medieval weapons, each captured with exacting detail. From robust two-handed axes to ornate shields and an assortment of bladed weapons, these items are ready to be incorporated into your latest projects:

Our Precision Scanning Process

We ensure each scan meets our high standards through a meticulous process:

  • Initial 3D capture with Reality Capture.
  • Mesh refinement using ZBrush.
  • Texture enhancement in Photoshop.
  • Final rendering with Marmoset Toolbag for superb visual quality.

Producing a knight scan involves about 25 hours of focused work, including detailed post-processing to perfect each scan.

At 3D.sk, our mission is to provide scans that not only meet but exceed your artistic and developmental needs with unparalleled detail and accuracy. Whether you’re crafting a historically accurate video game or need detailed references for CG art, our resources are designed to help you succeed.
