Creating believable digital characters has never been more crucial for game developers, VFX studios, and digital artists working in Unreal Engine. Whether you’re crafting a hero for a AAA game or building avatars for virtual production, hyper‑realistic anatomy and detail are what sell the illusion.

At 3D.sk we’ve raised the bar with a growing collection of 16 K diffuse head textures pre‑aligned to Epic’s MetaHuman UVs. Captured from cross‑polarised photogrammetry scans of real people, each map swaps seamlessly into your characters and unlocks pore‑level realism across a diverse range of faces.

What is MetaHuman?

MetaHuman Creator by Epic Games is a groundbreaking tool that lets artists generate realistic digital humans with built-in rigging and control. It integrates seamlessly with Unreal Engine, and it’s become a go-to solution for real-time characters across games, film, and virtual production.

However, while MetaHuman provides a powerful base, true realism is achieved by replacing default textures with high-quality scan-based textures — exactly what we now offer.

Why Upgrade to 16 K Scan‑Derived Textures?

  • 16 384 × 16 384 px – four times the data of 8 K maps; pores stay crisp even in IMAX‑scale close‑ups.
  • True albedo – cross‑polarised capture removes specular glare, so colours hold up under any lighting.
  • ΔE < 1.5 calibration – X‑Rite‑driven workflow ensures accurate, consistent skin tones.
  • Production‑ready file – 205 MB 16‑bit PNG + 8‑bit preview; organised for quick import.
  • Free upgrades – matching Normal & Cavity maps arrive Q3 2025 for all existing buyers.

    One‑Click Texture Swap

    1. Launch a new MetaHuman Lighting project in Unreal Engine (free plugin).
    2. Import your MetaHuman via Quixel Bridge.
    3. Create a folder called 3DskTexture and import the chosen 16 K diffuse head texture.
    4. Open MetaHumans → Your MetaHuman → Face → Materials → Baked, double‑click the main shader and replace T_Face_D_BaseColor with your new 16 K map.
